| CMR,
the leading provider of strategic advertising and marketing information,
today announced the incorporation of a new technological advancement
into its Broadcast Verification Service (BVS), which tracks the occurrence
of television programming and commercials within hours of airing.
CMR's BVS has worked in conjunction with VEIL Interactive Technologies
to customize VEIL's data transmission platform, which now affords
higher tracking accuracy and compatibility with all current digital
compression and digital distribution systems.
CMR is the sole broadcast verification licensee of the patented
VEIL technology, an acronym for 'Video Encoded Invisible Light.'
VEIL allows CMR to reliably track any TV broadcasted material including
commercials, video news releases, promos, public service announcements
and programs. Among other uses, this service allows advertisers
to detect if their spots have run at the correct times and to track
the effectiveness of direct marketing campaigns.
"The new VEIL II technology enables BVS to continue to report,
with extreme accuracy, overnight broadcast verification to our clients
in a very challenging digital environment, while giving us the ability
to make quick modifications and upgrades if necessary," said
Rich Radzik, vice president, BVS & Operations, CMR.
VEIL Interactive Technologies' president and CEO, Edward J. "Ted"
Koplar, said, "In meeting CMR's objective of having technology
compatible with the digital world, nothing else comes close."
He added, "We are pleased that CMR has chosen VEIL II as their
standard for broadcast verification services."
Recently patented, VEIL II is a more dynamic and intelligent encoding
process that impacts 9,000 blocks of video in every frame, making
it impossible to be erased from the video unless the video picture
is damaged. The new, universal system is compatible with NTSC, PAL
and SECAM and does not affect the quality of the broadcast.
VEIL II is currently available to all CMR clients. In conjunction
with VEIL II deployment, BVS will be expanding its market coverage
from 75 to 100 markets throughout 2001. This move parallels CMR's
expansion of its MediaWatchTM television monitoring system to include
the top 100 U.S. markets, announced last month. BVS will also be
increasing the number of VEIL encoding facilities throughout the
United States to meet all client demands for encoding.
About VEIL
VEIL was approved by the FCC in a ruling dated June 23, 1987. It
has been successfully used in the United States since 1988 when
it was used to create the first interactive program in conjunction
with The Wheel of Fortune game show. VEIL Interactive Technologies
is an affiliate of Koplar Communications International, Inc. Additional
information is available at www.veilinteractive.com.
