AT&T Corporation Tops List in Telecom Ad Spending
 
Spending $470.5 million in advertising through the first three quarters of 2000, AT&T was the top ad spender in the telecommunications industry. Behind AT&T, Sprint Corporation ranked second, spending $414.3 million. As for the top spending brands, Verizon Wireless spent $194.6 million and Sprint Long Distance spent $143.4 million.

Overall, the telephone sector showed growth from the first three quarters of 1999 ($2.71 billion) to the same time period of 2000 ($3.03 billion). The category increase of 11.8% lagged behind the overall advertising expenditure increase of 15.9%.
