Tops List of Soft Drink Ad Spenders |

| Spending $234.8 million in
advertising through the first three quarters of 2000, Coca-Cola Company
was the top ad spender among soft drink manufacturers. Behind Coca-Cola,
Pepsico Incorporated ranked second, spending $202.2 million. As for
the top spending brands, Coca-Cola Classic spent $158.3 million and
Pepsi Soft Drink spent $105.8 million. Overall, the soft drink
sector saw an increase from the first three quarters of 1999 ($534.1
million) to the same time period of 2000 ($574.3 million). The category
increase of 7.5% lagged behind the overall advertising expenditure
increase of 15.9%.
