Express Tops List in Financial Ad Spending

| Spending $221.5 million in advertising
through the first three quarters of 2000, American Express was the
leading advertiser in the financial services sector. Behind American
Express, Visa USA Incorporated ranked second, spending $209.8 million.
As for the top spending brands, Visa Credit Card spent $124.3 million
and Charles Schwab Consumer Services spent $115.4 million. The
financial sector showed tremendous growth from the first three quarters
of 1999 ($3.28 billion) to the same time period of 2000 ($4.13 billion).
The category increase of 25.9% far outpaced the overall advertising
expenditure increase of 15.9%.
