General Motors Ranked 1ST In Auto Ad Spending
 
Spending $1.97 billion in advertising through the first three quarters of 2000, General Motors continues to set the pace not only in the automotive industry, but also among all advertisers. Behind General Motors Corporation, DaimlerChrysler ranked second spending $1.12 billion. As for the top spending brands, Saturn Auto's LS spent $$150 million and Jeep Vehicle's Grand Cherokee spent $107 million.

Overall, the automotive sector showed considerably slower growth from the first three quarters of 1999 ($8.0 billion) to the same time period of 2000 ($8.4 billion). The year-over-year increase came in at 5% whereas overall, advertisers increased their budgets by 5%.
